Health

Pre tattoo care is not a trivial act; we should carefully consider and treat it well.

The tattoo artist will inject under the epidermis, the upper layer of the skin, the ink which will remain for life.

The more gently you take care of your tattoo, the longer it will look!

How to Prepare for a Pre Tattoo Care

  • Tattooing is tiring on the body. We are therefore going to give you some tips to help you understand your session.
  • Thanks to which you will be able to reduce stress and possible painful sensations.

1. Take Care Of Your Skin

  • We should know that we cannot tattoo damaged skin.
  • That is why you will need to take care of it before your appointment.
  • Protecting it from the sun and possible damage will be like pampering your tattoo in advance.
  • And also, I do not recommend tinted or very oily creams on the day of the appointment.
  • They can saturate the skin or make it difficult to cleanse before tattooing.

2. Be In Shape

  • Sometimes getting a tattoo is like a big workout. Put yourself in conditions!
  • First, sleep well the night before and eat a real meal before you come. You will have all your energy like that!
  • It will help you when the act of tattooing drags on a bit. The body can draw on the reserves.
  • Then, hydrate yourself 24 hours before to help improve the quality of your skin. The better your skin, the easier it will heal.
  • Finally, do not hesitate to take comfortable clothes in which you are satisfied.
  • It happens to be very tired after long sessions; sometimes, it is better not to plan immediately afterwards.

3. Cleanse your skin

  • Cleanse your skin in the shower with your usual soap.
  • Do not use cream or oil to moisturize your skin. If necessary, gently shave the part of your body to draw a tattoo, being very careful not to cut yourself.
  • If you don’t feel it, the tattoo artist will take care of it.
  • Dress in clothes that are safe and in which you feel comfortable.
  • The day before, go to bed early to arrive at your meeting fresh and available, as zen as possible.
  • We should not consume drinks, especially with no alcohol before the tattoo.

4. Prepare Your Mind And Reduce Pain

  • Many are those who arrive a little stressed on the big day.
  • See who has trouble sleeping the day before.
  • There are techniques to prepare yourself for the sensation and avoid anxiety before the session.
  • I have used a lot of methods from self-hypnosis or meditation, which I will share with you here:
  • You can get in shape by starting 2/3 days before the tattoo.
  • First, get comfortable, close your eyes, take a deep breath, and visualize the scene in 3 steps.
  • First, by getting a tattoo, second by being a spectator, and lastly, by walking away to see the scene almost
    disappear.
  • Imagine a calming setting, and most of all, in this scene, you are calm and feel the tattoo, but you don’t have any pain.
  • It is essential to imagine a sensation in the skin, but not pain.
  • Do this several times during the days leading up to the tattoo.
  • It will help you make the scene your own and quickly dive back into it during the session to reduce stress and pain.
  • While we do our best to make you feel good, having headphones, a book or something else to occupy your mind can also help you feel more relaxed.

Contraindications

  • Do not consume alcohol or drugs 24 hours before coming.
  • It can significantly thin the blood and make the tattoo artist’s job more difficult while slowing the healing
    process.
  • The tattoo artist reserves the right to refuse the session or to postpone it if he notices alcohol intake while tattooing.
  • If you are on treatment, we may seek the advice of a doctor before making an appointment. We point out that aspirin and anticoagulants can strongly contraindicate.

Tips after a pre tattoo care

  • You will have to follow your tattoo artist’s advice to the letter throughout the healing period (2 to 3 weeks in general).
  • The first few days, clean your tattoo delicately with clear water or neutral pH soap, not aggressive.
  • Leave your tattoo in the open as much as possible. When you need to go out, wear loose clothing, cotton, if possible.
  • Avoid tight-fitting and synthetic clothing as much as possible.
  • Moisturize your tattoo 2 to 3 times a day with the cream recommended by your tattoo artist.
  • You don’t need to put on a lot, but your skin should remain supple and not over-pull or dry out.
  • When the tattoo peels, it is essential not to remove the dead skin or scratch. It could damage your tattoo irreversibly.
  • Once it has healed, continue to hydrate your skin every day, if possible, with healthy and natural products.
  • Aloe vera gel, shea butter, or oils rich in vitamins E like borage oil, argan, or sweet almond, for example.
  • Throughout the healing period, the sun, the swimming pool, and we avoid the sea.
  • The baths, to wash, prefer the showers, avoiding leaving your tattoo too long underwater.
